My English Country Garden
My Garden is a huge inspiration to me. During the summer months, this is where you'll find me. A cup of coffee, a cake and my laptop. This is where I loose myself. I adore an English country garden full of unruly flowers that all fight for space within tightly packed borders. My favourites are roses, yes, they're hard work, they are easily damaged by strong winds and rain, but the scent is heavenly. After a few hours, adding new plants, doing a bit of weeding and checking what new life has introduced itself to my wildlife pond, I'm normally ready to sit down and carry on writing my novels.

My Favourite Towns and Villages
Okay, is there anything more inviting than a log fire with wood and coals simmering away, a large glass of red wine and a tired dog at your feet after a day running around the Lake District? During the winter months, I hunker down, glass of wine in one hand and a book in the other! This is Archie, my fox-red Labrador, toasting himself after a day swimming in Lake Windermere. As an author, there is inspiration everywhere, but especially during winter. Often, after a cold day I get home, light the fire and drag out my laptop. On the learn more links below, you'll find the details of a little seaside town close to my heart, Whitby, in North Yorkshire. Alongside Port Isaac in Cornwall, this town was another inspiration behind my first novel.
